So much runs through my mind on a daily basis that things are starting to slip. I wrote the wrong time down in my planner for a teacher-parent conference where I was the parent. Thank goodness she was nice!
Because of these loose and wild strings that I'm trying to force into a pretty bow in my brain, my reading life is suffering! BIG TIME!
I've been reading John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany for weeks. I can normally fly through books, but not this one.
There are two major reasons:
1) The language is absolutely beautiful. I've fallen in love with Johnny and his voice. I want to take it all in. It's 600 pages, so there's that, too.
2) I'm working on lots of little projects.
I'm trying to write every day and reflect on my teaching. I'm constantly thinking about my teaching philosophy and it's evolution.
I've also recently read some amazing books and blogs, AND listened to some inspiring podcasts. These have made me think seriously about what I'll do differently next year.

Elizabeth Gilbert teaches us, in her new book Big Magic, that mastery is BORING. I agree. I'll never be good enough at anything and I like that about myself.
I'm not afraid to try new things, rock the boat, fight for what's right anymore. You shouldn't be, either.
Also, why are we putting of things that bring joy to ourselves and those around us.
If you want to read, do it.
If you want to knit, do it. Now is the time! Even if you feel like you have NO TIME... reading two pages a day is better than no pages.
xoxo
