What did you do for fun when you were a kid?
When you were a teenager?
What did you do before you got married/had kids/started working full-time?
I used to scrapbook and make collages. The collages started in middle school. My friends and I would cut out pictures of words, cute boy models, and candy out of magazines like "Seventeen" and glue them on the front of notebooks. There was something so satisfying about adding and adding, taping and gluing until the perfect result was reached. Or, in my case, until you ran out of Scotch tape.
Later, in college, I discovered scrapbooking. I loved learning about layering papers and adding cute pictures. I even did a little art journaling in my twenties. I tried to get spiritual with it, but you know how those early twenties go...
My main concerns were making enough money to eat and pay rent, dancing on the front row of local shows, and trying to find a husband.
Ahhh... The good old days. Not really.
So, I've already shared my love for the written word. Let's see if I have a knack for mixed media art. It's something you don't know until you try, just like writing.
Frankly, I'm tired of saying "I used to love..."
Why is this past tense? I still love it... Or I might, if I try.
What are we waiting for, ladies?
Let's dream. Let's play.
