I love books. If you know me, you know this.
I would be remiss if I didn't devote a significant part of this blog to my deep appreciation for the written word.
My love began in the Normandale library with my mother. This is what it looks like now, but believe me: in its day, it was beautiful.

Just trust me.
My love continued with my precious grandmother. I spent every Friday night with her -- it was our thing -- and she always took me out to eat and to the mall. At the Montgomery Mall, there was the most adorable little bookstore. Thanks to my friend Jess, who is also a Montgomery girl, I can tell you that the bookstore was called Waldenbooks.
Anyway, I fell in love with chapter books like Ann M. Martin's masterpiece that was The Babysitter's Club.

The Montgomery Mall -- right around the corner from Ma and Pa's house!
These books taught me to read quickly. I became spoiled. I knew that I could read as fast as I wanted to because every Friday I got a new installment. Can you believe that? Nowadays, you sometimes have to wait for a year to get the next book in a series.
My love for reading continued with some breaks (preteen me only wanted to read magazines about how to get a boyfriend).
Now that I'm a mom, it's hard to make time to read for pleasure, but I do it. It's important to me. Every second that I can sneak a page or two, I do it.
Maggie's in the bathtub playing? I pull up a chair and read.
Jack's chewing on his teething ring on the floor?
I prop myself up on my elbows and read beside him for a minute or two.
There are others like me!
I am enjoying being a part of two book clubs. Getting together with other women, having a snack, and talking about books? Are you kidding?! Heaven!
One group -- they call themselves Book Worms -- recently read Room by Emma Donoghue.
The discussion lasted for a couple of hours and could have kept going into the night!

My second club (we need a name, girls!)

If you haven't read any Elin Hilderbrand novels, what are you doing with your life?!?
I will leave you with some quotes about reading. Until next time!
