I just finished this delicious nugget. I say it's delicious and mean it because the book revolves around the death of a famous chef and also includes recipes.
Chef Deacon Thorpe has had a rough life with some beautiful bits thrown in. His father left him and his mother when he was a child, he has three failed marriages, and his finances are in dire straights.
After his sudden death (heart attack), his manager shares that Deacon's will specifies a strange request: his three wives (two ex) must meet at his (their?) Nantucket beach house to scatter his ashes.
As you can imagine, there are issues and conflicts that arise due to this request! These women cannot stand one another.
The children all get together too and Hilderbrand gives us little peaks into their lives as well.
There are revolving points of view in true Hilderbrand style. She always does this tastefully and I as reader never get confused.
Her best-selling books are commonly referred to as "beach reads," but they're deeper than that for me.
Check her out, but like I always say, start with Blue Bistro, my favorite book introduced to me by my dear friend Jess. (Hi, Jess!)
You'll be hooked. I promise.
Until next time..
